St Joseph's Family Services operates as a community based not for profit organisation. The Management Committee comprises parents, community members, Parish representatives and staff. Appointment to this committee is by nomination to the Parish Priest. Meeting monthly, it is this group that is ultimately responsible for all St Joseph's Family Services Programs legal obligations and ensuring its ongoing viability within the Vision and Mission of the Parish.

 

The Centre offers the following services:

ST JOSEPH'S PRE-SCHOOL

Pre-School sessions between 9.00 am  and 3.00 pm 42 weeks per year.  Extended hours care 8.00 am to 6.00 pm 49 weeks per year.  Casual holiday care is available if required.  The Pre-school caters for children aged 3 – 6 years. Qualified and experienced staff committed to high quality early childhood education and childcare, offering diverse and developmentally appropriate programs to all children.

Hastings Family Day Care is a co-ordinated scheme where young children (up to 12 years) are cared for in small groups in homes of registered and trained carers.  Types of care offered are: full-time, part-time, before/after school, vacation, emergency care.

The centre opens between 7.45 am and 5.45 pm 49 weeks of the year.  Licensed for 28 children aged 0 to 8 years.  Caters for children 0 – 8 years. Half and full days are available. Qualified and experienced staff committed to high quality early childhood education and childcare. Bookings are essential.

The Centre caters for 59 children between 0 – 5 years and is open 49 weeks of the year. The Centre is open from 7.30am - 6.00pm with our nursery, kindy and pre-school rooms offering diverse and developmentally appropriate programs. Children can attend from one to five days per week, according to the needs of parents. We have qualified and experienced staff committed to high quality early childhood education and childcare.

FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICE

Family Support is offered at no charge to all families, carers, volunteers and staff registered with St Joseph's Family Services. Information and referral, short term counselling, general support and advocacy, groups and workshops are provided. The Family Support Worker is available to discuss any issues regarding parent's concerns about their children's wellbeing, or any personal or relationship difficulties. An appointment is necessary.

Hastings Home-Start is a home visiting programme where trained volunteers offer regular practical, social and emotional support to families who may be experiencing a wide range of challenges and stress in their own homes. The program helps families with at least one child under eight years of age.

The Hastings Families First Community Development and Promotion Officer works with the community and existing services to raise awareness of Families First programs across the Hastings local government area through a broad range of activities.

MID NORTH COAST RESOURCE & TRAINING PROGRAM

The aim of the Resource & Training Program is to increase the access and participation of all children with additional needs in Australian Government Funded Children's Services. This is achieved through training and support to staff in Children's Services across the region (Taree to Coffs Harbour) in the provision of developmentally and culturally appropriate programs for all children. Children with additional needs may include those with a disability, those from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, those who are from Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or South Sea Islander backgrounds or those who are refugees and may have experienced trauma and torture.
