Organising your Wedding in our Parish

Considering a marriStep 1:        PRE-MARRIAGE WEEKEND  ConsdiIt is a requirement in law that an appropriate preparation be given to couples contemplating marriage. This requirement has arisen from the sad statistic that over one third of first marriages are failing. Following are two compulsory steps of marriage preparation and a third optional step of marriage preparation to be completed as soon as possible by couples intending to be married in our Parish.

The Pre- Marriage Weekend involves various people with special skills who will share their knowledge and experience with you. There are 2 weekends per year, to verify weekend dates  Pre-Marriage Weekend Dates.

Step 2:        MARRIAGE PAPERWORK

This paperwork is the documentation for your marriage, the Government and Church paperwork. This needs to be completed No MORE than 18 months, and no LESS than 1 month before your wedding. It is necessary to make an appointment to see a priest to complete your paperwork. If you do not live locally, the paperwork can be completed by the local Parish Priest of your area and posted to us. When you meet with the priest you will need to have copies of your Birth and Baptismal Certificates.

N.B.  There is a Government form that has to be completed AT LEAST one month and one day before your marriage.

Step 3:        FOCCUS  PROGRAMME

The Foccus Programme is a self diagnostic instrument designed to help couples learn more about themselves and their unique relationship. It is not a test nor meant as a predictor of success or failure in marriage. It is a tool to help couples name and work through issues before marriage.
